"*** UPDATE YOUR LISTINGS, AMAZON! ***The ingredients have changed and Amazon has not updated the listing (this happens way too frequently).I’ve been buying La Preferida refried beans for many, many years. Besides having no preservatives, less of a ‘canned flavor’ and a much better than average consistency, I have stuck with this brand because their authentic version and green chile version have both always been made with actual lard. They can’t compete with homemade, but they are decent substitute, and very handy to have on hand.Unfortunately, I just received an order of the green chile recipe (April 2021 in Texas), and the label now lists both lard AND hydrogenated lard. This is not what is stated in the listing description, and not what is shown on the image of the label on Amazon, both of which strictly say lard.Very sad to see the La Preferida quality slipping. I wish brands would just raise their prices instead of sneaking inferior ingredients into their products. Will have to find a new brand or just go back to keeping homemade refritos in my freezer. Sigh."
